The Nelson Lakes forms part of New Zealand's National Parks heritage recreation grounds. This country cottage accommodation is 10 minutes from St Arnard and 50 minutes to Nelson.
The area is ideal for trampers, hikers, skiers, snowboarders, boaties and it has special conservation significance. Recently kiwis (native New Zealand flightless bird) were reintroduced into the area as part of the local Department of Conservation (DOC) programme.
A 'mainland island', whereby an area of native bush near the lakes has been fenced off and made pest free, has seen the abundance of indigenous wildlife both flora and fauna flourish. Walking through this once barren land, you now hear the full song of New Zealand's native Tuis and Bellbirds.
